At least 58 people have died in a terrible fire in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa.
The fire broke out in the city at around 1.30 am local time on Thursday and the flames engulfed a five-storey building in the country’s largest city.

There were also strings of sheets and other items hanging from some of the windows. It was not clear if the people used them to escape the fire or if they were trying to save their possessions.
The cause of the devastating fire is still unknown, but is said to have taken place in a “hijacked” inner-city building – an “informal settlement” used by homeless people without formal had gone within the agreement.

Footage from the road shows a heavy presence of emergency vehicles as locals wade through the floods. The number of bodies found continued to rise overnight, spokesman Robert Mulaudzi confirmed.
