Shah Rukh Khan’s much anticipated and controversial film Pathan has been submitted for censorship. CBFC Central Board of Film Certification Chairperson Prasoon Joshi has asked the filmmakers to make some changes in the film and songs.
Directed by Siddharth Anand and backed by Yash Raj Films, Pathan ran into a major controversy after the release of her debut song Besharam Rang.
Several politicians including State Legislative Assembly Speaker Mr. Girish Gautam and Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra took issue with the outfits worn by both Deepika and Shah Rukh.
Putting all questions to rest, Joshi released an official statement that added: “Pathan has gone through the prescribed and vetting process as per CBFC guidelines. The committee has directed the filmmakers to include songs in the film. Implement suggested changes and submit a revised version before theatrical release.
“CBFC is always committed to finding the right balance between creative expression and audience sensitivity and believes that we can always find solutions through meaningful dialogue between all stakeholders.”
“As long as this process is being properly followed and implemented, I must reiterate that our culture and faith is wonderful, complex and nuanced. And we have to be careful not to define it by such trivialities. Not something that distracts from what’s original and true. And as I’ve said before, protecting the trust between creators and audiences is of the utmost importance and creators must continue to work for it. “
Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham starrer Pathan is slated to release on January 25, 2023, reports JEE News.
