Former chancellor Rishi Sunak has confirmed he is in the running to become the next Conservative leader and prime minister, saying he wants to “fix our economy”.
Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg told that Boris Johnson would “clearly stand” to lead the party.

Announcing that he is running as the next leader and Prime Minister of the Conservative Party after days of speculation, during which he won the support of more than 100 MPs, Rishi Singh said Britain is a great country. But we are facing a deep crisis.
In a tweet announcing his candidacy, Sunak wrote “Britain is a great country but we face a deep economic crisis”.
Sunak says he can “fix our economy, unify his party and deliver for our country”, and that although “the challenges we face now are the challenges posed by the pandemic”. There are far more”, “Opportunities – if we make the right choices.” are unusual”.
