ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday directed Inspector General Punjab Police Faisal Shahkar to file a first information report on the assassination of PTI Chairman Imran Khan in Wazirabad.

The Supreme Court issued these orders during the hearing of the contempt petition filed by the government on the long march of the former prime minister to Islamabad.

At the beginning of the hearing, Justice Bandyal condemned the murderous attack on Khan’s life and asked his lawyer Salman Akram Raja whether an FIR has been registered yet.

“I don’t know about the FIR. An attempt was made to file an FIR but I don’t think it has been registered yet,” Raja said.

Expressing regret over this, Chief Justice Bandyal said that it has been more than 90 hours since the attack and the FIR is yet to be registered. Delay in registration of FIR means that police investigation has not started yet.

“If the police do not investigate, the evidence from the crime scene may be destroyed. Thus, the evidence in the case will be disputed and inadmissible in court,” the chief justice said.

On this occasion, IG Shahkar appeared before the bench.

The Chief Justice told the policeman that I have heard about your achievements at the international level, file an FIR and tell us. He also directed the top police officer of the province to continue working, assuring that if anyone interfered, the court would look into it.

The country’s top judge also directed the Punjab police chief to assign an honest officer to investigate the attack on Imran Khan.

“We have seen your resignation. The court assures you that no one will interfere with the steps taken by you in accordance with law,” the chief justice said.

On this, the IG told the court that Chief Minister Punjab Pervez Elahi has some objections to the registration of the case.

“The registration of the case has some political angle but the police also have the power,” Shahkar said.

Justice Bandyal directed the Punjab police chief to continue working according to the law. He added that if there is a delay in registering the FIR, he will raise the case as an issue in the criminal justice system.

The Chief Justice said that the Chief Minister’s objections cannot stop the police from registering a case

Justice Bandyal remarked that we are not taking notice on our own right now, but if the FIR is not registered within 24 hours, we will take notice on our own.

Azam Swati Case
PTI Senator Azam Swati also appeared in the court during the hearing.

Seeing this, the Chief Justice remarked that what happened to him was very painful.

“Your case is going on in the Human Rights Cell. The court is cautious in this matter, the case will be dealt with according to law,” the chief justice said. He also told the senator that he was never in the rest house of the Supreme Court. stay

The senator said, “Yes, you are right. I stayed at Quetta Federal Logs.”

The country’s top judge also directed PEMRA and PTA to remove the alleged video of the senator.

The Supreme Court will seek a report from investigators in Kenya.
The Chief Justice also told about the letter written to the Chief Justice by the mother of the slain journalist Arshad Sharif.

The Chief Justice said that the HRC is investigating the letter of Arshad Sharif’s mother. He further said that the court will see the report of the fact-finding commission regarding the murder of Arshad Sharif.

An investigative team has gone to Kenya to investigate. The Chief Justice said that we are seeking a report from the commission. He added that once the material comes, it will be easier for them to provide support, adding that without evidence, the court will keep shaking its head.

Contempt of Court Case
During the hearing of the contempt petition filed against the PTI chief, the Chief Justice raised the issue of attack on Imran Khan, alleged video of Azam Swati and delay in registration of FIR against Arshad Sharif.

On October 13, the federal government filed a contempt petition in the Supreme Court on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s call for Islamabad Long March.

In its petition, the federal government told the Supreme Court that the PTI chief was making announcements to march towards Islamabad, which was in violation of the court order.

It has been said in the petition that Imran Khan is announcing the attack on Islamabad. He urged the Supreme Court to direct the PTI chief to ensure implementation of its orders regarding protests and sit-ins.

The application has been filed by the Ministry of Interior on behalf of the Federal Government.
