The Supreme Court will hear the contempt of court petition against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan for violating the Supreme Court’s May 25 order today.
A five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial will hear the petition filed by the government. Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Syed Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi will also be part of the five-member bench.
On October 12, the Ministry of Home Affairs had filed a petition against Imran Khan for violating the Supreme Court’s May 25 order during PTI’s Haqi Azadi March.
The petition states that Imran Khan has yet to conduct another march on Islamabad in violation of the Supreme Court’s order.
The government’s position is that the Supreme Court had allowed Imran Khan to hold a peaceful protest, but the PTI chairman is planning an attack on Islamabad.
