The Supreme Court will hear the petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan against the NAB Amendment Act on October 4.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Atta Bandial comprising Justice Ijazul Hasan and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will hear the petition.
Imran Khan’s application has been fixed for hearing and notices have been issued to the Attorney General of Pakistan, Additional Prosecutor General of NAB and others.
Imran Khan has requested the Supreme Court to declare the NAB amendment law null and void.
Earlier on September 1, PTI Chairman Imran Khan approached the Supreme Court against the recent amendments to the laws governing the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), saying the changes would increase white-collar crime by public officials. The body will be deprived of teeth for the procedure.
In the 94-page petition, Imran took the stand that the amendments made by Parliament in the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) rules are a matter of public importance.
He urged the court to strike down the amendments that took away the power of the president to appoint the chairman of the National Accountability Watchdog and gave it to the ‘government’.
