Tata Martino named head coach of Inter Miami CF.

Inter Miami CF has made a major move by appointing former Barcelona and Argentina coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino as their new manager.

The decision sets the stage for an exciting reunion with compatriot Lionel Messi, amid the ambitious direction the Major League Soccer (MLS) team is set to take.

Martino, known for his successful tenure with Barcelona and coaching Messi at both club and international levels, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to Inter Miami CF. The 60-year-old coach was most recently in charge of Mexico’s national team after their group stage exit at the 2022 World Cup. Martino’s appointment follows the departure of former club manager Phil Neville on June 1.

Inter Miami CF’s managing owner, Jorge Moss, expressed his optimism about the club’s future with Martino: “We are very happy to welcome Tata to Inter Miami. We think he is a great coach. Which is in line with our ambitions. One club, and we are optimistic about what we can do together.”

Co-owner David Beckham also praised Martino, saying, “We are confident that his achievements in the game and experience as a head coach will inspire our team and excite our fans.”

Martino himself expressed his excitement about the new opportunity, saying, “I’m very excited to join a big club like Inter Miami, and I know we can do a lot of great things together. region, and I believe that with everyone’s hard work and determination, we can get there.”

Taking charge of an Inter Miami CF team currently at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, Martino’s arrival has sparked a new wave of optimism. Additionally, the expected signings of Messi and former Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquets will undoubtedly add significant firepower to the squad, signaling the club’s ambitions for a strong return to the league.

With Martino’s extensive managerial experience, including winning the MLS Cup in 2018 with Atlanta United, success domestically and internationally seems well within Inter Miami CF’s reach.
