Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported that textile exports during the first month of the current fiscal year (2023-24) reached $1,311.659 million.
Textile exports declined by 11.44% from $1,481.173 million during the same month last year (July 23, 2022).
Textile items that contributed to the growth of trade include cotton yarn, whose exports increased by 35.96% to $97.031 million during July 2023 as against $71.365 million in July last year.
Other commodities that saw an increase in trade included tents, canvas and tarpaulin, whose exports increased by 9.02 percent to $8.735 million from $9.523 million, while exports of cotton carded increased by 100 percent. reached 0.209 million dollars.
Textile items that saw a negative growth in trade include cotton cloth, whose exports declined by 22.56 percent from $181.985 million to $140.936 million.
Similarly, exports of knitwear decreased by 16.13% from $434.642 million to $364.541 million, bedwear decreased by 14.60% from $253.988 million to $216.910 million, towel exports decreased by 2.93% to $74.965 million. 74.965 million dollars and the export of ready-made goods decreased to 86.67 million dollars. , from $304.571 million to $274.733 million.
Exports of art, silk and synthetic textiles also declined by 16.18 percent to $26.167 million from $31.218 million, while makeup articles (excluding towels and bedware) declined by 7.54 percent to $55.199 million from $51.039 million.
Exports of all other textile materials decreased by 10.13% to $53.961 million from $60.041 million.
Meanwhile, on a monthly basis, textile exports from the country declined by 10.89 percent during July 2023 compared to exports of $1471.976 million recorded in June 2023, PBS data revealed.
