Witnesses to a deadly rampage at a Thai nursery have described the terrifying moment a former police officer arrived and began attacking staff and children.
Nanticha Pancham, head teacher of the childcare center, said she was about to prepare lunch after sending the children off for a nap when she heard five gunshots.
He told the BBC that the center would normally have 92 children, but only 24 at the time of the attack due to the breakdown of the shared bus and some rain.
According to Ms Nanticha, only one child survived.
“This is something I never dreamed of… I don’t know what to do next. I can’t really think of anything at this point,” she said.
One of the other teachers recognized the attacker as the parent of a child at the center, she said — even though the child had not been to school for a month.
The man never got sick, she said, adding that he was always polite when dropping off his son and sometimes very chatty.
But on Thursday, she said the partner told her her eyes were closed and she was quiet.
