Thousands of people have signed an online petition calling for the royal title “Prince of Wales” to be scrapped after King Charles gave it to his son William.
According to the UK Media, the petition was started by Tristan Gruffydd from Pontypridd, Wales on Change.org under the title “End ‘Prince of Vales'”.
The publication reported that he filed the petition shortly after the new King Charles III, who had held the title of Wales since 1958.
The petition has more than 36,000 signatures in two weeks.
The Daily Express reports that Gruffydd believes his campaign has sparked a national debate about where the Prince of Wales holds the title.
