ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Khurshid Ahmad Shah on Friday warned against 2018-like maneuvers, saying that no political party should take any step that would affect national unity because The election campaign has charged the political atmosphere.
In a statement, the PPP leader said that the National Assembly has been dissolved in accordance with the Constitution and the law and it is now the responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities in a free and fair manner. Conduct elections.
Shah said that in 2018, few people, who were supposed to deliver justice, were involved in political maneuvers and destabilized the country, but now it is important to avoid such political maneuvers to save the country from economic and political polarization. .
He asserted that political maneuvers like 2018 will not be tolerated.
Additionally, Shah alleged that the election results of many constituencies in 2018 were altered through rigging, making them questionable.
However, he said “we preferred to sit in the assemblies in the larger interest of the country”.
The former minister further said that the government in Punjab was formed to benefit a particular party but when it dissolved, suo motu was taken to hold elections for its convenience.
He added that such tactics will not be tolerated anymore.
He said that such a constitutional step has not been taken for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but an arrangement has been made for a party in Punjab.
