Islamabad: The local court on Wednesday expressed its anger over the continuous absence of former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the hearing of the Tosha Khana case, saying that the accused appeared in the court only once during seven months.
“Where is the accused?” Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Islamabad, Humayun Dilawar asked during the hearing of the Toshakhana case.
Last week, the same court declared the case filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the PTI chairman admissible.
The court adjourned the hearing ordering Imran Khan to appear in person on Thursday (today).
As the hearing began, Imran’s lawyer Niazullah Niazi told the court that his client has already challenged the July 8 decision of the Sessions Court in the Islamabad High Court and the hearing of the petition is scheduled for today (Wednesday). The lawyer said that he intends to file an exemption application for his client’s appearance in court and requested that the hearing be adjourned for two days.
The judge said: “As a criminal lawyer, have you ever seen a situation where a case has been going on for more than seven months and the accused appeared in court only once?”
The court directed Imran’s legal team to provide a copy of the IHC verdict.
