The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday unveiled a brand new trophy for the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
A 24-carat ‘Supernova Trophy’ was unveiled at Shalimar Garden in Lahore.
The function was attended by PCB Management Committee Chairperson Najam Sethi and other cricketers.
The trophy is made in Pakistan and showcases the country’s craftsmanship.
The first match of PSL 8 will be played between Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans at Multan Cricket Stadium on February 13. The final will be played on March 19 at Gaddafi Stadium.
The three pillars of the trophy represent the motto of the national cricket team: unity, passion, and strength, while the central pillar at the back is further adorned with crystals, representing the dedication and hard work that ensured the team’s success. has made
Speaking on the occasion, Najam Sethi said that PSL is very close to his heart and he is determined to make it bigger, better and stronger every year.
“With this in mind, and to celebrate PCB’s momentous event in front of home fans, we decided to design a new trophy that embodies our spirit as a proud nation and call it the Shalimar. Launched at the Gardens, which is a national treasure. And a source of pride for all of us,” Chairman PCB highlighted.
“The Supernova Trophy is a testament to the passion and tenacity of the Pakistani people and is a source of inspiration for future generations of sportspersons,” he added.
The PCB chief also said that the creation of the trophy was a true labor of love and as the league continues to grow, he added, “The trophy has become a symbol of excellence and success, for The players and the teams put in the effort. Every year, put it on a higher level in victory.”
