Elon Musk-owned microblogging site Twitter, which wants to take on Instagram and Facebook with its latest updates, on Wednesday introduced a much-awaited feature for its users.

As of June 7, Twitter Blue subscribers can edit tweets for up to 60 minutes, extending the previous limit of 30 minutes set since the feature’s October 2022 launch.

The development comes as part of Musk’s plans to increase revenue by adding features most requested by Twitter users to the Twitter Blue subscription service.

Twitter Blue’s official account made an announcement to its 571,000 followers, confirming that paid users will have a full hour to edit their posted tweets before the editing opportunity expires, and now Not Available.

Even during Jack Dorsey’s tenure as CEO of Twitter, the ability to edit tweets was consistently one of the most requested features by users of the social networking platform based on user requests.

After buying Twitter last year for $44 billion, Musk aimed to make the Twitter Blue subscription attractive by adding special features, enticing users to pay $8 a month for the service.

“The billionaire’s goal was clear – to pump more funds into the coffers of Twitter, which was previously not seeing enough profits. Musk, as part of an internal restructuring process, to balance the financial position of the platform. Twitter laid off a large portion of its global staff. And cut costs,” JEE News reported.

This is also when the Tweet Edit update was introduced for Tweets published to Twitter Blue subscribers. However, not all plans for Musk’s subscribers worked out.

According to Alex Heath, editor of The Verge, several Twitter Blue subscribers complained that “some of the package’s features are not working.”

Despite massive advertising since February, Twitter Blue’s reduced ads feature has yet to be implemented. However, the social media site added other updates to make changes to meet user requests.
