US teenager arrested for planning terrorist attack with al-Qaeda linked organization

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has arrested a young man from Philadelphia for allegedly organizing a terrorist attack with the al-Qaeda affiliated Khatiabt al-Tawhid wal Jihad (KTJ) group. 

The 17-year-old was suspected of having links with Khatib al-Tawheed, an al-Qaeda-affiliated group.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said during a news conference: “The work of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force prevented a potentially devastating terrorist attack in the name of a warped ideology that in no way , does not represent the beliefs of any shape or form. The majority of peace-seeking people, including Muslims.”

“The charges we have brought against this individual represent the most serious alleged terrorism case ever tried in a Philadelphia County court in recent history,” he added.

Krasner added: “We intend to take full accountability for these crimes and continue to work vigilantly with our law enforcement partners to protect all of our communities from hateful, ideologically-driven violence. will.”

According to JEE News, the teenager allegedly bought the components and began building the nuclear bomb.

“The items he purchased included tactical equipment, wiring, chemicals and devices often used as remote detonators,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Jacqueline Maguire said at a news conference.

Maguire added, “Not only did he take steps to obtain items and materials commonly used in improvised explosive devices, but he also began to put together potential devices. Actions were taken.”

When the FBI learned that the child was allegedly in contact with KTJ, a foreign group linked to al-Qaida, an investigation was launched. According to a news source, the teenager was located over the course of a few weeks, and the FBI launched a surveillance-based investigation.

Maguire also revealed that the teenager had access to a large quantity of weapons.

The youth is charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction, engaging in criminal conspiracy, setting fire to property, causing or endangering destruction, attempting to commit criminal mischief, and recklessly endangering a person. Is.

The Juvenile Court has received the case.
