The development of a new feature for WhatsApp’s group chats was reported last month by WABetainfo, which says the feature update is finally out.
Feature: The ability to view profile photos in group chats enables WhatsApp users to recognize people in the groups they are using on the chatting site.
According to the WhatsApp news tracker website, this feature has been released to iOS users who have installed the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.70 update and it finally rolled out to some beta testers on WhatsApp desktop after the version update. Also available for

The screenshot above shows how group chats will look after the feature is enabled. Profile icons will appear next to chat bubbles.
However, it should be kept in mind that profile pictures may or may not appear according to users’ privacy settings. Instead, a default profile icon, colored the same color as the contact’s name, will appear if someone’s profile picture is missing or hidden.
This feature will be introduced for Android users in the future.
