The size of WhatsApp groups keeps increasing. This week, the instant messaging app released a beta for Android and iOS to deliver a key feature: the ability to add up to 1,024 users to groups, which is currently accessible to select beta testers.
For a long time WhatsApp group cap was 256 people which was acceptable for groups of friends. Still, it limits users when people want to create group chats for large groups of people.
According to WABetaInfo, this limit was recently increased to 512 people. However, WhatsApp is going to double this once again, allowing you to have group chats with over a thousand members.
Adding more than a thousand people to a group conversation might seem ridiculous, especially since WhatsApp recently increased the number of people from 256 to 512.
However, Telegram enables 200,000 users to join group chats. Having many participants in a group chat is more beneficial for enterprise or broadcast reasons when you want to convey information to a large number of people without expecting them to respond.
