Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is always working to improve the user experience by bringing updates and enhancements to existing features.
WABetainfo reported that in its latest version update, the platform is introducing a much-needed feature for those who love to share photos.
WhatsApp is definitely the go-to app when it comes to sending pictures but there was one drawback. Even high quality images will lose their resolution to some extent if sent via WhatsApp.
However, this problem will no longer be there as the developers of WhatsApp have introduced an innovation within the app with which users will be able to share high definition (HD) images.
A new feature called “HD Photos” will preserve the resolution of photos after users install the latest beta version, WhatsApp News Tracker said.
“This feature definitely improves the user experience when sending photos, and it’s rolling out to some beta testers.”
However, the feature has only been rolled out for iOS and some beta testers may be able to see the new option that allows them to manage image quality.
This feature will be available to more people in the coming weeks.
This screenshot shows how users will be able to use the new feature. The option appears only when a larger image size is selected to send.
It should be noted that the new feature does not mean that images will be transferred to their original quality “as this option preserves the dimensions of the image, but still applies mild compression to the image”.
Additionally, whenever applied, the feature adds an “HD” symbol to the message bubble containing the sent image. Also, this feature is limited to images only as it won’t apply to videos.
