Facebook-owned messaging service WhatsApp is always working for the privacy and security of its users and is working on a new feature that will allow people to secure the desktop version.
According to WaBetaInfo, this new feature will allow users to protect the desktop version of the app by setting a password.
The feature was available for Android and iOS beta users, however, WhatsApp is now working on a solution to bring the screen lock option to the desktop beta.

Users have to enter the password every time they open the application as shown in the screenshot above. This is useful for people who share their PCs.
“Note that enabling this feature is optional and potentially, the user will have more control over when the app will require a password,” the WhatsApp news tracker said.
Also, WhatsApp will not know the password as it is always stored locally. If a user loses or forgets the password, they need to log out of the app and re-login on the desktop by linking the device with the QR code.
This feature is not yet available as it is still under development. It will be released in a future update.
“In additional news, WhatsApp may also implement a feature that lets users lock the app using Touch ID on Macs if the fingerprint sensor is available.”
