An Iranian man who for decades was called the “dirtiest man in the world” because of his bathing habits has died at the age of 94, state media said on Tuesday.
Amu Haji, who had not bathed for more than six decades and was alone, died on Sunday in the village of Dejgah in southern Fars province, JEE News agency reported.
The agency quoted a local official as saying that Haji refrained from bathing for fear of “getting sick”.
But “for the first time a few months ago, villagers took him to the bathhouse for a bath,” JEE News reported.
According to Iranian media, a short documentary film titled “The Strange Life of Umu Haji” was made on his life in 2013.
