‘Yeah Kahan Ka Insaf Hai?’: Rumman Raees slams PCB for ‘ignoring’ Sarfaraz Ahmed

Pakistani cricketer Rooman Raees on Tuesday apparently criticized the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for not only captaining Sarfraz Ahmed, who led Pakistan to its maiden Champions Trophy victory in 2017 and 11 consecutive T20 series wins. Removed, but also removed him from the captaincy. The home series against New Zealand continues.

Speaking in a YouTube podcast, Rumman said: “You [PCB] not only removed him from the captaincy but also dropped him and when you brought him back, he waited four years to play his first international match. Yeah Kahan Ka Insaf Hai? [What sort of justice is this]?” he asked.

The cricketer said that injustice was done to the former captain who is still considered as one of the most successful captains of Pakistan.

Apa, who won the Champions Trophy, took the team from seventh to three in Tests, seven to one and two in ODIs and sixth to one in T20Is, and under his captaincy Pakistan won 11 consecutive T20Is. Winning series, how can you remove him as captain on the basis of one bad series?” asked the left-arm fast bowler, who made his international debut under Sarfraz’s captaincy.

Sarfraz was reportedly forced to relinquish his captaincy back in 2019 when Pakistan was knocked out of the ICC World Cup that year. He did not agree to the terms, the then PCB setup offered under the leadership of Ehsan Mani, and continued to lead Pakistan against Sri Lanka during the home tour.

Pakistan won the ODI series 2-0 but were whitewashed in the three-match T20I series. As a result, Sarfraz was sacked and it sparked a massive controversy. Sarfaraz’s poor performance was cited as the reason for his dismissal.

Earlier this year, Sarfraz made his return to Test cricket at home against New Zealand. He scored a match-saving century for Pakistan and further strengthened his case.
