ISLAMABAD: Secretary Information of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Security Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday, former President and President of Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) Asif Ali Zardari and The meeting between the leader of Muslim League-N Nawaz Sharif in Dubai was rejected. He said that it was not an official meeting but it was a routine meeting and there was no discussion on seat adjustment.
“Anyway, there was a routine meeting where the political situation in the country was discussed but it was not official. Two political leaders sat down and had a political discussion. But if it was an official meeting, then the second level of both parties. should be to implement the decisions taken in the meeting,” he said while addressing a press conference along with PPP media coordinator Nazir Dhokhi here on Saturday.
Faisal Karim Kundi said that Asif Zardari and People’s Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz in Dubai in which the political situation was discussed. He said it was not an official meeting and there was no discussion on seat adjustment.
He said that the People’s Party is ready for the elections and has started its election campaign with the public meeting of Swat. He said that the term of the National Assembly is about to end and the elections should be held at their constitutional time, so that political and economic stability can come. He said that the democratic system will bring political and economic stability.
He said that whenever the Election Commission conducts local body elections in Punjab and Islamabad, the People’s Party is also ready. We have started our election campaign from Swat for the general elections.
Responding to a question regarding the launch of Isthakam Pakistan Party (IPP), Faisal Karim Kundi said that he is not against any political party. He said that it will be known only when Isthakim Pakistan Party enters the political arena by holding public meetings and the response of the people will tell its future. He said the two IPP leaders were part of the government as their secretary general was still the special assistant to the prime minister. In response to a question regarding the IMF’s meeting of the country’s political parties, Kundi said that after the agreement with the government, the IMF has started a series of meetings. “They had some reservations from the previous government that violated the previous program,” he said. He said that Benazir Income Support Program has completed 15 years. This program was started to economically empower poor women. Kundi said the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), which aims to empower women, has been recognized internationally. He said that they are introducing new measures for the convenience of deserving families. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif yesterday inaugurated social protection accounts under which the beneficiaries will be able to open their bank accounts. The Special Assistant said that the BISP budget has been increased to Rs 404.2 billion. In the past, there was an attempt to erase Benazir’s name from the program, which failed. He said that 90 lakh poor women are getting assistance money, accounts of these women will be opened in banks across the country and now Benazir cards will be provided to poor women. He said that under the Benazir Kafalat program, per family was Rs 7000 and after a 25% increase, the quarterly stipend has now become Rs 8750. Similarly, the number of children benefiting from Benazir Education Wazifa increased from 2.6 million in 2022 to 7.52 million in 2023. The Benazir Undergraduate Scholarship Program awarded 82,000 scholarships in 2022, increasing to 92,003 this year. Additionally, he said that currently 770,000 mothers and their children are benefiting from the Benazir Udshak programme. The Prime Minister first inaugurated the Social Professional Account through the Post Office. The money that was given earlier will now be transferred through banks.
