A 4.2-magnitude earthquake hit the island of Hawaii on Thursday, officials said, but there were no reports of damage.

The quake struck around 4:30 p.m., and was centered 7.5 miles southeast of Pahala at a depth of 18 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory maintained that tremors were widely felt on the island, with reports of 89 being felt in the first half hour, adding that “the magnitude of the tremors reported was very mild and there was no damage or loss of any kind.” Little is expected.”

Officials also noted that the quake had no apparent impact on Mauna Loa or Kilauea volcanoes.

The recent earthquake at Phala is part of a swarm of earthquakes since 2019, and officials from the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory are monitoring the volcano.

The National Weather Service Pacific Tsunami Warning Center noted on its website that there is no tsunami threat to the island.

As a result, no loss of life or property was reported after the earthquake.
