All institutions have to be presented before Parliament, Bilawal

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Parliament is supreme and everyone has to submit before it. “It is heartening that today members of Parliament and democratic political parties are united on the same page on the principle of an empowered Parliament. Undemocratic thinking must be defeated with rigor and determination on the Charter of Democracy,” he said on Sunday, both former said in a statement on the occasion of the 17th year of the signing of the Covenant of Democracy (CoD) between Prime Ministers Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif. He said that by following the Charter of Democracy, the prestige of the country was raised and democracy was strengthened. He said that former President Asif Ali Zardari handed over all his powers as President to Parliament through constitutional amendment.

He said that the 18th amendment is an agreement between the federation and all the federal units. He said that only Parliament has the power to make laws and constitutions. He said that it is the duty of the rest of the institutions of the state to follow the laws passed by the Parliament.

He said that thanks to the great sacrifices of martyr Ms. Benazir Bhutto and the party workers, the constitution of 1973 was restored in its original form which was the defeat of those who hated and hated democracy.

The PPP Chairman said that due to the great struggle for the restoration of national security and democracy, the graveyard of Garhi Khuda Baksh Bhutto was inhabited by martyrs, from where the sun of democracy rises with the blood of martyrs.
