ISLAMABAD: Two new cases have been filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan – already in hot water since his arrest warrant was issued in the Tosha Khana case – and others. Alleged vandalism outside Islamabad High. Court and Judicial Complex.
The ousted prime minister appeared in separate cases before the Banking Court, the Anti-Terrorism Court and the District and Sessions Court located in the Federal Capital’s Judicial Complex and the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
However, separate cases were registered against Khan and other PTI leaders by Coral Police Station Superintendent Umar Hayat and Ramna Police Station SHO Rasheed Ahmed.
FIRs under the provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act and Sections 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 186 (obstructing public servants in the performance of official duties), 353 (assault to prevent public servant from taking leave) or criminal power) are listed under his duty) and 506 ii (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
21 party leaders and 250 other party workers have been named in the FIR, including PTI chief Imran Khan and leaders Shibli Faraz, Hammad Azhar and Murad Saeed.
“Imran Khan and other PTI leadership led a charged mob in the judicial complex. People in the mob carried weapons, sticks and flags in their hands, while police and other security personnel were killed in the court premises. Threats were made.” The FIR has been read.
It added that despite barricades and warnings from the police, the mob entered the IHC premises and damaged CCTV cameras, benches and other government property.
Similar allegations were made in other FIRs related to Khan’s visit to the judicial complex.
On Tuesday, PTI Chairman Imran Khan got interim bail in three cases including attempted murder and prohibited funding, while a sessions court in Islamabad, however, issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against the former prime minister in the Tosha Khana case.
