Sources told JEE News that anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan has been arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for his controversial statements.
FIA officials said on condition of anonymity that the anchorperson was arrested at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport while he was on his way to the United Arab Emirates.
Sources say that Riaz will be produced in court today.
The anchorperson was arrested on the same day that PTI ally Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed was arrested by the Islamabad police.
Reacting to the arrests, PTI leader Asad Umar claimed that terrorists are roaming free while Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Imran Riaz are behind bars.

This is not the first time that the FIA has barred an anchor person from boarding a flight.
In July 2022, authorities offloaded Riyadh from a Dubai-bound flight.
At the time, immigration sources shared that the anchorperson — who had several cases filed against him, including sedition — was offloaded because his name was on the blacklist.
