ISLAMABAD: Renowned religious scholar Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani on Monday issued a fatwa (religious edict) declaring any armed activity against the state of Pakistan as “sedition”, which is “haram” and as per Islamic law. It is forbidden.

Mufti Taqi Usmani shared stories of his meetings in Kabul while leading a delegation to meet the Afghan Taliban. He said that he also expressed his displeasure against the elements of TTP who were carrying out acts of terrorism in Pakistan.

“Fighting against national security institutions and doing anti-state activities falls under the category of rebellion and has nothing to do with Jihad.”

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal was also present on this occasion who also expressed his views on the discussion.

“Pakistan was founded on an ideology. Being the only Muslim nuclear power, Pakistan has a prominent position. Our state and institutions are strong,” the federal minister said.

He further said that scholars should play an effective role for the elimination of extremism and terrorism.

Chairman Islamic Ideological Council, Dr. Qibla Ayaz expressed regret over the tragic incident of Army Public School in 2014, saying that it has brought the entire nation together on one platform to fight the menace of terrorism.

He said that with the help of Ulemas, Mashaikhs and Religious Scholars, the government formulated a unified policy in the form of ‘Pegam Pakistan’ to bridge the communication gap and resolve religious differences for peace and harmony in the country.

He suggested that the “Pakistan Message” should be given constitutional cover by Parliament so that it could be implemented at the grassroots level.

The Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Interfaith Harmony and the Middle East, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, described political instability as an important factor behind the country’s economic woes.

Ashrafi urged the media to play a responsible role and refrain from publishing or broadcasting fake news as it adversely affects business activities.

The politician said that there are some elements who want to spread chaos but the Ulama have renewed their pledge to thwart the nefarious intentions of the enemy against the peace and security of Pakistan.

Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, chairman of the Central Royat Hilal Committee, said the ‘Pegam Pakistan’ had united the nation and was “playing a constructive role in the development and prosperity of the country”. “The Ulama are standing with the Pakistan Army and other security agencies and are fighting the enemy’s agenda.”

Former religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi said they have to make a concerted effort to catch the “masterminds” polluting the minds of the youth.

Allama Iftikhar Naqvi said, “The message of Pakistan is yielding positive results and concerted efforts are needed to create awareness among the people in every corner of the country.”

Maulana Fazlur Rehman Khalil said that we should make concerted efforts to bridge the gulf between the Ulamas of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The National Security Committee (NSC) headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided that no country will be allowed to provide shelter and facilities to terrorists and Pakistan reserves all rights to protect its people. .
