Journalist Arshad Sharif, who was killed by Kenyan police firing near Nairobi, will be laid to rest in Islamabad today (Thursday).

According to the family, his funeral prayer will be offered at Shah Faisal Mosque today at 2 pm. Later, he will be laid to rest at Islamabad’s H-11 graveyard.

Investigators are probing how and why senior journalist Arshad Sharif was killed in Kenya and left for the African country late on Wednesday, as the government launched an investigation into the reasons behind forcing the journalist to leave Pakistan. Decided to expand.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that a two-member committee has been formed to investigate the murder of Arshad Sharif. The committee has been tasked not only to investigate the murder and identify the culprit, but also to probe the possible nexus of those involved in pushing him out of the country and the alleged link of a private television channel to gold smugglers.

He added that the investigators will gather details about the activities of the slain journalist Arshad Sharif and the reasons behind his departure from Dubai to Kenya.

The interior minister also revealed that the Kenyan police had changed their narrative on the facts surrounding Sharif’s murder.

Sanaullah said the Kenyan police is changing its narrative regarding the murder case, adding that two names have now emerged in the case.

This is why, Sanaullah explained, the government “had to de-notify the previous team and form a new team.”

“The Kenyan government has not announced its official position on the matter. That is why we have decided to send our senior officials to Kenya to investigate,” he added.
