Former federal minister and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Faisal Vawda has expressed suspicion that the killers of senior journalist and anchor person Arshad Sharif may have links with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Once a member of PTI chairman Imran Khan’s inner circle, the former senator pointed the finger at his own political party and reiterated that the assassination of Arshad Sharif was planned in Pakistan.

He said that his plan to give a political color to Arshad Sharif’s murder was foiled.

After calling Sharif a dear friend in his explosive and impromptu press conference at Islamabad’s National Press Club last week, Vawda said he had spoken to the journalist just 10 days before he was killed.

“He (Arshad Sharif) thought there was no problem in returning to Pakistan,” Vawda said.

Sharif reportedly fled Pakistan due to threats to his life, which he expressed in a letter to the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

“He said people were talking about a ‘farmhouse’ two hours away from Nairobi,” Wavda said.

Vawda claimed that Arshad Sharif was killed at close range, probably from inside the car, or from outside the car at the closest point.

He further said that the person named Waqar who arranged accommodation for Sharif in Kenya was his classmate.

Moreover, Khurram, who witnessed the incident, was Waqar’s brother.

The two men have reportedly spoken to Pakistani investigators who have traveled to Kenya to investigate the matter.

On whether he was considering switching allegiances, Vawda said he was not interested in joining the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the rainbow coalition of parties that currently form the government.

He added that there is no comparison between Imran Khan and PDM.

Reiterating his loyalty to the PTI chairman, he said that he will try his best to save Imran Khan’s politics.

Vawda was already issued a show-cause notice for his press conference and after that Imran Khan said that two people and three ‘snakes’ were benefiting from his ouster from the party.

On Imran Khan’s recent anti-military stance, VAWDA said the PTI chief would work with the armed forces and those who forced Imran to take a confrontational path with the army would ultimately be of no use. .

Referring to the PTI chief’s tweet on Monday morning, he said, “I am sure that the Long March will be bloody, while Imran has also confirmed my prediction.”

Fostering Snakes
Pressing on the identity of the ‘three snakes’ he had mentioned, Vawda said that he had informed Imran Khan about the identity of two of them.

He said that next time I will reveal the names of these two snakes.

Vawda said that the establishment had played an important role in the 2018 general elections.
