Charges of attempted rape and assault against Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood have been dropped.
The 21-year-old was arrested in January 2022 amid allegations related to the photos and videos.
He was later charged with attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
In a statement, Greenwood said he was “relieved” and thanked his family and friends for their support.
The Crown Prosecution Service said charges were dropped after key witnesses withdrew their involvement.
A spokesman said: “We have a duty to keep cases under constant review.
“The combination of the withdrawal of key witnesses in this case and the new material that came to light meant that there was no realistic prospect of a conviction. In these circumstances, we have a duty to stay the case.
“We have explained our decision to all parties.
“We would always encourage any potential victims to come forward and report to the police and we will take legal action wherever our legal test is met.”
In a statement released by Greenwood, the 21-year-old said: “I am relieved that this matter is now over and would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support.
“No further comment will be made at this time.”
Within hours of the allegations emerging at the start of 2022, the forward, who has made one appearance for England, was suspended from playing or training with the Old Trafford club.
A Manchester United spokesman said the club “notes the Crown Prosecution Service’s decision that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped”.
“The club will now carry out its own process before determining the next steps,” he said.

JEE News understands that Greenwood will not return to training or play until the process is completed.
Greater Manchester Police said it was “only fair” to announce Greenwood would face no further criminal proceedings.
Chaudhry Superintendent Michaela Kerr said the decision was “not taken lightly”.
She added: “However, I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our commitment to investigate allegations of violence against women and girls and to support victims, regardless of their circumstances. Yes, whatever difficult and troubling times may be for them.”
