Frank Casey scored a dramatic late winner as Barcelona moved 12 points clear of Real Madrid in La Liga.
Real went ahead against the run of play in El Clasico as Vinicius Junior’s cross was headed into his own net by Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo.
Barca equalized just before half-time through Sergi Roberto’s shot after Rafinha’s effort was blocked.
Marco Asensio had a late strike ruled out for offside for Real, before Casey scored the injury-time winner.
Both sides have 12 league matches remaining and Barca are in a dominant position as they look to win the title for the first time since 2018-19.
Roberto said: “You can never say [the title] is over but now we’re 12 points clear so it’s difficult for them.
“It’s up to us and that’s the most important thing. I’m just happy to help the team with a goal. It was epic at the end and I’m happy to get the goal for Frank.
“The game changed when we thought Asensio had scored, it was called offside and we scored. It feels even better when you win with a late goal and in front of your supporters like that. It feels great to do.”
Spanish champions Real beat Liverpool 1-0 on Wednesday to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 6-2 aggregate victory.
Karim Benzema, who scored against the Reds, had the first shot of the match in the opening minute but his effort from outside the penalty area was well held by Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
But the visitors were indebted to goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as he made an excellent save to keep out Robert Lewandowski’s fine 25-yard effort and Rafinha’s header.
Real took the lead in the ninth minute, but 26-time Spanish champions Barcelona dominated in the first half.
Andreas Christensen failed to convert two chances and Rafinha was given a shot by Courtois before Roberto equalized in the 45th minute.
Lewandowski, La Liga’s top scorer with 15 goals, had a shot just wide before Real substitute Rodrigo fired at the other end in his first involvement.
Raphinha almost won it in the 74th minute but was denied by another excellent Courtois while Lewandowski also shot into the side netting.
Asensio was only on the pitch for six minutes when he slotted the ball into the net late on for Real, but the goal was disallowed after a harsh video assistant referee ruled for offside.
Substitute Casey was then Barcelona’s hero in the 92nd minute, finishing after good work from Alejandro Balde.
Barcelona manager Xavi said: “The league is not decided but it’s definitely a big win.
“I think we deserved the win and we were better than Real Madrid, we created more chances”.
Barcelona are back in action the next day on April 1 with an away game at Elche before Real Madrid entertain Real Valladolid the following day.
