ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry has said on Tuesday that legal action is being taken against senior Muslim League (N) leader Maryam Nawaz for continuously targeting Bushra Bibi.
Speaking at a news conference here, he said that it has been decided to register a case against the leader of Muslim League-N. He also urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to remove the current Chief Election Commissioner for “acting as an accomplice of the Muslim League (N) and inducting persons of his choice in the commission”.
Fawad pointed out that Maryam Nawaz targeted the Chief Justice of Pakistan and several other judges of the Supreme Court in her speech on Monday. He alleged that PML-N and Maryam Nawaz targeted the bench comprising the Chief Justice and two other judges hearing the petition against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments, hence the bench was dissolved and the verdict could not give
He said that the issue of NAB amendments is important for the leadership of PMLN because if the Supreme Court cancels the NAB amendments, their corruption cases worth 1100 billion rupees will be restored.
Today, he pointed out, the Chief Justice of Pakistan has remarked that all institutions are bound to implement the orders of the Supreme Court under Article 190 of the Constitution. The PTI leader said that Maryam Nawaz was constantly targeting Imran’s spouse and accused him of taking money to sign files, so now Bushra Bibi has sent a notice to her and filed a criminal case against her. Decided to file a case. He also claimed that Bushra Bibi has never been a part of any political activity except visiting the poor.
He also said that according to the constitution, the elections in Punjab cannot be postponed beyond May 14, for which a constitutional amendment was required. “The Chief Justice has supported such an amendment after negotiation and agreement between the parties,” he argued.
Turning his guns towards the ECP, he alleged that the orders of the Chief Justice are being flouted because of the Election Commission.
Accusing the CEC of acting as a PMLN crony and inducting favorites into the commission, they demanded their removal. Fawad also demanded early hearing of reference against CEC.
On the other hand, the spokesperson of the Election Commission issued a strong statement denying the allegations leveled by Fawad against the Election Commission and the Chief Election Commissioner. It said: “All recruitments in the Election Commission have been done in a fully transparent manner as per rules and regulations and no relative of any senior official of the Commission has been recruited.”
Similarly, he clarified that all the technical and professional persons in the Election Commission were appointed under the rules and regulations under the re-employment policy. No recruitment was made without advertisement except for re-employment where necessary.
The spokesperson also said that the Election Commission has not purchased any private land for its offices. All the offices of the Commission are built on government land only and no private transactions are carried out.
“The Sargodha office is being built on Punjab government land, which was given to the Election Commission during the PTI government. Also, all the land acquired for the offices is under the PTI government. It was procured from the Punjab government at official rates, the cost of which was transferred from the federal treasury to the Punjab government during the PTI regime.
Referring to Fawad’s allegations, he said that the accuser should know that there is a book by Senior Advocate Hamid Khan in the Election Commission’s library. “Such talk does not flatter those who have apologized to the commission in the recent past.” They said.
