LAHORE: In yet another blow to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a case has been registered against its vice-chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi and senior vice-president Fawad Chaudhry for allegedly inciting public hatred against state institutions. went.

The case was filed by Sub-Inspector Muhammad Waseem of Race Course Police Station under Sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 149 (offence in action against public objection by perpetrators of unlawful assembly), 153 (incitement with intent to create riot). (Incentive) was listed under if rioting), 290 (punishment for public nuisance), 291 (continuation of disturbance after order of discontinuance), 505 (statements causing public disturbance) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

According to the text of the FIR, PTI leaders Qureshi and Fawad held a press conference at Zaman Park on March 5, which led to the blockade of Canal Road. It said that Fawad made inflammatory speech and incited people against the government and state institutions.

In the FIR, it was written that Fawad committed the crime by obstructing the traffic on a main artery of the city and accused the state institutions of conspiracy to murder.

Shibli Faraz, 150 others booked for interfering in state affairs

Also, PTI leader Shibli Faraz was booked on charges of making a false statement about Imran Khan’s presence at his Zaman Park residence and interfering in state affairs.

The case was registered by the Islamabad Police who went to PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence in Lahore to serve the ousted prime minister’s arrest warrant issued by an Islamabad court in the Tosha Khana case. .

The case was registered by SHO Nadeem Tahir of Secretariat Police Station in Lahore’s Race Course Police Station. About 150 unknown persons have also been named co-accused in the case.

According to the FIR, the police reached Khan’s house with an arrest warrant, but Faraz interfered in state affairs by giving a false statement in writing that the PTI chief was not at his residence in Zaman Park. Meanwhile, 100-150 unknown people armed with sticks stopped the police from proceeding and threatened to kill them.

On March 5, as news of the possible arrest broke, Fawad invited activists to gather at Zaman Park. After which a large number of party workers reached the Lahore residence of the PTI chief.

The PTI leader asked the workers to start preparing for a protest in case of Khan’s arrest. He added that if anything happens, we call for a peaceful nationwide protest.

Fawad also alleged that the government was pushing for Khan to appear in court to kill him. He further said that both federal and Punjab governments are different sides of the same coin.
