BEIJING: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir and Chinese Army Commander discussed mutual security interests and military cooperation on Wednesday.
On the first day of his four-day official visit to China, the COAS was accorded a warm welcome and a guard of honor at the PLA Army Headquarters.
An ISPR news release said that he conducted a discreet inspection of the incoming contingent, followed by a detailed meeting with the PLA Army Commander.
Besides discussing mutual security interests, the two military commanders reiterated the need to maintain peace and stability in the region and increase military-to-military cooperation.
General Asim Munir also witnessed the display of operational capabilities of PLA Army troops. He praised the high standard of training and professionalism of the PLA soldiers.
The COAS will hold more meetings with Chinese military leaders to promote the long-standing relationship between the two forces.
