The ECP claimed that “it is not understandable why the current officer is interested in a particular posting of the station of his choice,” the ECP added that according to the law, the transfer and posting were the government’s prejudice. It was further stated that under Article 112 (1) of the Constitution, the Punjab Assembly was dissolved on January 14 and the caretaker government was appointed under Article 224 (A) on January 22.

The ECP submitted, “It is a perceived view of the Commission that without changing such discriminatory officers, free and fair elections will not be in accordance with Articles 218 and 230 and Election Act 2017.”
