Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar on Monday submitted his reply in the Supreme Court in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) contempt case.
Umar filed a reply in the contempt of court case against him, Fawad Chaudhry and PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
In his reply, Umar said that the show-cause notice issued by the ECP is illegal and unconstitutional.
He said that Article 204 gives the High Court the power of contempt of court and the ECP is not a court.
He further said that the commission cannot use the power of contempt of court under Article 204.
He further said that Section 10 of the Election Act is inconsistent with the Constitution.
Umar requested the court to declare Section 10 of the Election Act unconstitutional and dismiss the Commission’s appeal.
