ECP denotified Imran Khan from six National Assembly seats.

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday notified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan of DD from six National Assembly seats – which he had won last year.

The electoral authority said in a notification that the former prime minister – who was removed from power last year – was elected from NA 22 Mardan, NA 24 Charsadda, NA 31 Peshawar, NA 108, NA 118 Nankana. The seats were de-notified. and NA 239 Karachi.

Earlier, on January 19, a three-member ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja informed the PTI chief of his victory on seven seats in the by-elections held in October last year. He announced his decision.

The notification was earlier stalled due to the party’s alleged failure to submit funding details to the electoral body. However, the January 19 judgment said that Khan had submitted the required details to the election body after which it decided to notify him as the winning candidate for all the seven NA seats.

After de-notification from six earlier seats, Khan now holds the Karam seat, for which he can take oath and join the NA.

Denotification of 32 PTI MNAs from Punjab suspended

In a separate notification, the Election Commission also suspended the de-notification of 32 PTI MNAs. After Khan’s ouster from the government, PTI MLAs resigned en masse from the National Assembly.

At first, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf accepted the resignations of only 11 MNAs. However, on January 17 and January 20, the resignations of 34 and 35 more PTI MNAs were accepted respectively.

Several MNAs subsequently withdrew their resignations and requested the Speaker not to accept them. However, on January 25, the Speaker of the National Assembly accepted the last batch of resignations.

Subsequently, 43 MNEs took their complaint to the Lahore High Court (LHC), which suspended the ECP orders on February 8.

Later, several other PTI MNAs approached the Lahore High Court for similar relief. However, the court directed the ECP to suspend the de-notification of PTI MNAs from Punjab only.

The ECP’s statement issued today said that the electoral body is suspending its notification from January 17, 20, 27, and February 3 “to the extent of the following constituencies/certain seats in the province of Punjab”. Is.

The statement said that the notification of de-notification of 27 members on general seats from Punjab has been suspended, the notification of de-notification of 5 women members from Punjab has also been suspended.

The statement said that the commission will also delay the holding of elections for these seats until further guidance is received from the LHC.

The women MNAs whose de-notification notices have been suspended include Alia Hamza Malik, Kanwal Shozab, Andalib Abbas, Asma Hadid and Malika Ali Bukhari.

Apart from this, the de-notification notices of Sadaqat Ali Khan, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Amir Mehmood Kayani, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Fawad Chaudhry and Syed Faizul Hasan have also been suspended.
