Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed on Friday claimed that the schedule for the upcoming general elections will be released before April 5 – the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. This is the only demand since the overthrow. A vote of no confidence in April last year

Earlier, the former interior minister had predicted that the election schedule would be released in March and April.

Speaking to reporters in Rawalpindi, Rashid warned that the internal situation would worsen with provocative statements by the interior and foreign ministers for the economic crisis. Internal threats have arisen from the statements of the Home and Foreign Ministers.

Earlier, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah had said in an interview to a Pakistani news channel: “If Kabul does not take action to eliminate them, Islamabad may target the TTP [Tehrik Taliban Pakistan] in Afghanistan.” “

Pakistan has seen a sharp rise in terrorist incidents over the past few months, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, after the outlawed TTP announced a ceasefire with Islamabad.

Rashid said that Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir had also said that the country is going through a critical period.

“I think we are heading towards elections,” he added.

‘Establishment is impartial’
Sheikh Rasheed said that the establishment is neutral after the newly elected military leadership took over as no one is making phone calls. “Now, no one says they’re receiving [mysterious and threatening] phone calls.”

Commenting on Imran Khan, the former federal minister said that he cannot level accusations against the PTI chief, asserting that if he gets a ticket from Imran Khan, he will also win the election.

Known for his crisp remarks, Sheikh Rasheed said these 13 parties – referring to political parties under the umbrella of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) – will get more than just votes in the elections. Imran Khan has buried the politics of these 13 political parties.

Sheikh Rasheed said that these people tried to kill Imran Khan.
