RAWALPINDI: The Army’s media wing on Friday clarified that former Army Chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa’s statement on “combat capability” was “quoted out of context”.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued this statement following a media discussion on the “combat capability of the Pakistan Army in view of the status of specific weapon systems in its inventory”.

ISPR said, “To this end, the former army chief’s views on the future threat to Pakistan, which he shared with media persons in an off-the-record interactive session, are contextualised. are copied out.”

The army’s media wing assured people that the army would always be proud of its “operational readiness and extreme combat capability”.

ISPR said that “Pakistan armed forces have always and will always keep their arms, equipment and manpower ready for the defense of the motherland.”

This statement came after a revelation in a TV show by journalist Hamid Mir that General (Rtd) Bajwa had said in a meeting with 20-25 journalists that Pakistan was not in a position to fight a war with India.

Mir’s statement was picked up by the Indian media and reported by major news agencies.
