HEC Launched ‘National Youth Helpline’ to Provide Counseling to Students

The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has launched a National Youth Helpline to provide psychological support and counseling to students.

The toll free number of the helpline launched under Prime Minister Youth Program is 0800-69457. The service was launched on Tuesday at the HEC Secretariat, Islamabad.

The helpline aims to provide a safe and confidential gateway to access information for youth-related issues including counseling services for psycho-social issues, career development and reproductive health challenges.

This initiative is a joint effort under the PM Youth Programme, which includes HEC, United Nations Family Planning Association (UNFPA) and Rahnoma Family Planning Association of Pakistan (FPAP). has joined to provide psychological support for youth.

HEC Executive Director Dr. Shaista Sohail said that 64% of Pakistan’s population consists of youth, who need guidance and support for their mental and psychological health.

He termed the launch of the National Youth Helpline as an important step taken at the right time to provide guidance and actionable solutions to the youth.
