ISLAMABAD: A larger bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday ordered that all references related to Imran Khan’s alleged daughter Terrian White be placed on record.
A bench headed by Chief Justice Amir Farooq heard the case. The petitioner said that Imran Khan did not disclose the name of his daughter Tyrion White in the nomination papers and hence he should be disqualified.
PTI’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja said that Election Commission of Pakistan has decided this case twice. The court inquired whether Imran Khan is still a member of the National Assembly or not. The complainant’s lawyer and former justice Hamid Ali Shah replied that the PTI chief was still a member of Parliament.
The court said that it is the jurisdiction of the courts to decide on eligibility as the ECP cannot give any decision in this regard. It is not mandatory to disclose details of dependent children under the Election Act.
The ECP counsel said that the properties of dependent children need to be disclosed. Then, indirectly, the details of the children were required, he said.
The Chief Justice asked about the law of the Election Commission. The ECP’s counsel replied that if this practice was followed, the case would go into corrupt practice. The Chief Justice said that in case of wrong details, the ECP was supposed to take notice within 120 days, the institution did not take any action. The court adjourned the hearing till March 8, ordering the petitioner’s counsel to bring on record all references related to Tyrion White.
