Former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar has revealed that ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan “approached him for help in court matters” two weeks ago.
Journalist Zahid Gishkori speaking in program said that the former Chief Justice confirmed that he had spoken to Imran Khan.
Former Chief Justice Nisar’s conversation with two different journalists revealed a contradiction regarding his contact with former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
At 10 am, the former chief justice told anchorperson Adil Shahzeb that he had no contact with the PTI chairman, but confirmed contact with former DGISI General (retd) Faiz Hamid, Adil Shahzeib.
It was a shocking reaction for journalist Adil. He said that the former Chief Justice questioned whether he would lobby for Imran Khan and whether his role is less than PTI chief.
“Am I less capable and intelligent than Imran Khan to lobby for him?” The journalist said with reference to Saqib Nisar.
The former chief justice’s comments come at a time when the PTI chief is facing corruption charges in the Tosha Khana case for which a lower court has also issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him.
Narrating his conversation with the former chief justice, Adil said that when he was asked by former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa to disqualify former Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) supremo Nawaz Sharif. Asked about the alleged claim about the role of the Chief Justice. Under pressure from former ISI DG General Faiz Hamid, he rejected the allegation and asked how General Hamid could put pressure on him.
Saqib Nisar also told Adil that his WhatsApp account had been hacked and expressed concerns that his data could be used to distort facts for political purposes.
Meanwhile, later in the afternoon, speaking to journalist Zahid Gushkuri, the former chief justice confirmed that he had indeed spoken to Imran Khan.
Gishkori tweeted a glimpse of the alleged conversation between Saqib Nisar and Imran Khan.
“May we speak my lord? What time is convenient to speak?” Read the text sent by the former prime minister to Saqib Nisar two weeks ago. It was 8 pm when the former chief justice replied, “You are welcome.”
Gushkuri shared with Khanzada that the PTI chairman then sought Nisar’s help in court cases against him, to which the former chief justice replied: “I cannot help you”.
The PTI chief reportedly said, “This is a difficult time for me,” to which the former chief justice reiterated that he would not be able to help Khan.
“I advised him that you are a former prime minister and are targeting institutions and he should not undermine institutions with unnecessary criticism,” the former chief justice quoted Gishkuri as saying.
The Chief Justice had warned the former Prime Minister that if he continued on his course, he would face difficulties.
