Lahore: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has approached the Lahore High Court for protective bail in three FIRs including the Toshakhana case.
According to Khan’s lawyer Azhar Siddique, the bail applications were filed at the Chief Justice House on Sunday, adding that Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Amir Bhatti has fixed the applications for hearing today.
The lawyer said that he has applied for bail in the two cases registered against the PTI chief in Islamabad’s Ramna police station and in the Toshkhana case.
Two separate cases were registered against the PTI chief at the Ramna police station after vandalism at the judicial complex and the Islamabad High Court during Khan’s appearance last week.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court Registrar’s Office has objected to the petitions as some documents are missing and directed PTI leaders Hamad Azhar, Farrukh Habib and Mian Aslam Iqbal to attach the relevant documents.
The PTI chief had approached the Lahore High Court for bail following a clash between authorities and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) at Khan’s Zaman Park residence on Sunday.
Interestingly, Khan’s chief of staff, Senator Shibli Faraz, while receiving his boss’s arrest warrant, claimed that the PTI chief was not present at his residence in Zaman Park.
But a few hours later, the ousted prime minister – who was ousted from power in April last year – vented his anger at his residence in Lahore, addressing party workers and supporters who called for the “jail bharu movement” (arrest in court). participated in the movement.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan came down heavily on “state institutions” amid the arrest controversy.
In his impassioned speech, the PTI chairman said that he has not bowed down to any institution or person and will not allow the nation to do so.
Khan appeared amid a crowd of PTI workers gathered at Zaman Park after Islamabad police arrived at his Lahore residence to arrest him in the Toshakhana case.
On February 28, Additional Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal of a court in Islamabad issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for the former prime minister in the Toshakhana case for not appearing in court continuously.
According to the court orders, a team of Islamabad Police headed by the Superintendent of Police visited Zaman Park to execute the arrest warrant.
