Porto had a chance to double at 0-0, but Inter goalkeeper Andre Ona denied both Zeido Sanusi and Mehdi Treimi.

The visitors sent off Ottavio in the 78th minute for two bookable offenses and were unable to keep Inter out.

The second leg will take place on Tuesday, March 14 at the Estadio do Dragão in Porto.

Both sides will regret the missed opportunity. Second-placed Inter in Serie A scored in the dying minutes of the first half, but Alessandro Bastoni’s header was tipped over by Diego Costa.

Hakan Calhanoglu also saw an earlier header pushed over, with Lautaro Martinez heading over unmarked from six yards.

Porto also had their moments when it was goalless, but Mateos Uribe and Teremi missed chances.

Second in Portugal’s Primera Liga, Ottavio was sent off by Sergio Conceicao in the first half for dissent and then shown a second yellow card for a foul on Calhanoglu.

Otavio will now miss the second leg, but Porto will still fancy their chances of overturning the deficit at home in three weeks’ time.
