Reacting to the Supreme Court of Pakistan verdict ordering the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday criticized the judiciary for being biased towards Khan.

The Prime Minister said that the judiciary has become an iron shield for Imran Khan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz while addressing the cabinet meeting in Islamabad questioned the judiciary on the treatment of other politicians in the country.

The prime minister’s comments came a day after Supreme Court Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial ordered his release on May 9 terming his arrest as “illegal”.

Khan was arrested from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) premises by Rangers personnel – acting on a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) warrant – in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

“Politicians sent to jail in false cases, did any court ever take notice?” he asked.

Commenting on the history of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) cases, the prime minister said the anti-corruption agency has spared no one and has poisoned the entire country, from industries and educational institutions to religious institutions. .
