Live updates of PDM sit-in: JUI-F workers enter Islamabad’s red zone.

To protest against the judiciary for providing ‘blanket relief’ to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) staged a sit-in outside the Supreme Court from 1 pm to 2 pm.

Despite the imposition of Section 144 in the federal capital, the protesters comprising workers and supporters of Jamiat Ulema Islam Fazal (JUI-F) have already reached the federal capital.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the head of PDM, the ruling alliance of 13 political parties, had announced a sit-in outside the Supreme Court on Friday against Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Atta Bandial on the facilitation of Imran Khan.

12:38pm — Muslim League-N caravans leave for protest from Rawalpindi.
PML-N leaders Hanif Abbasi and Sidra Naseem are leading their convoy from Rawalpindi.

The convoy will enter Faizabad in Islamabad via Murree Road in Rawalpindi.

12:25pm – PDM starts protest outside Supreme Court.
All roads leading to the red zone have been closed for traffic.

A long queue of vehicles is seen on Margalla Road, they enter the highway through the road.

12:10pm — PDM convoy leaves Malakand to join the protest.
The PDM convoy has left from Swat Motorway in Malakand to join the protest in Islamabad. The protesters are led by PML-N’s provincial joint secretary Muhammad Najeem Khan.

11:55am – Protest in Astor
In Astoor, protestors blocked the main intersection inside the district headquarters protesting against Eidgah Ali Murtaza.

11:34am — Protesters leave SC to join PDM protest.
Protesters from Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan are leaving their hometowns to join the protests.

11:28am — A sit-in will be held at some distance from SC.
Police sources have told JEE News that the stage for the sit-in will be built at some distance from the Supreme Court.

Police sources said that there is no objection to setting up a stage in front of Election Commission of Pakistan and Prime Minister House.

The police added that its strategy is not to place the stage right in front of the Supreme Court.

11:44am — PDM workers reach outside the Supreme Court gate.
Islamabad Police spokesperson told JEE News that the protesters have entered the red zone, but the situation is peaceful.

The police have appealed to the citizens to cooperate and remain calm.

11:30am — Talks between JUI-F and authorities fail.
Sources told JEE News that negotiations between the JUI-F and the authorities at the protest site have failed.

After the failure of negotiations, the party decided to protest outside the Supreme Court.

11:26am — Negotiations at sit-in failed
Negotiations between the JUI(F) leadership and the government regarding the change of sit-in failed, the party decided to continue the protest before the Supreme Court.

11:24am — PDM protesters enter the red zone.
PDM protesters have entered the red zone of Islamabad. The police have cleared the way of Serena intersection.

11:20am — Standoff at sit-in
The district commissioner of Islamabad told JEE News that talks are going on with the PDM at the sit-in site.

No final decision has been taken about the venue of the protest yet. He said that Section 144 is in force in Islamabad.

11:15am — Convoy from Kohat to Islamabad
The PDM convoy from Kohat has started its journey towards the federal capital to join the sit-in.
