Marriyum called Imran a liar for denying news of his wife’s corruption

ISLAMABAD: Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday termed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan as a “liar” after he accused his wife Bushra Bibi of corruption and unceremonious removal of the former chief. Tried to deny a news story.

“If this was not the reason, what was it? Say it! The only reason is that you cannot give another reason because you know that this is the real reason. Liar,” the minister replied to Imran Khan’s tweet on his wife’s corruption.

Meanwhile, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the establishment of National Film Production Institute will help in the promotion of film production in the country.

She was addressing the inaugural function of PTV’s National Film Production Institute here. The federal minister said that he was happy to see that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s vision of a training institute for film production is going to become a reality.

She said that due to their historic services, Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan have a legacy in the history of electronic media industry of the country. The minister said that unfortunately in the recent past, filmmaking has been limited to only one class. However, it was a good sign that the trend of film making in private TV channels is on the rise.

The National Film, Culture Policy 2018, revived last year by the current government, was aimed not only at reviving films but promoting Pakistan’s narrative across the world through screen tourism.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that in the Film Policy 2018 entertainment was given industry status and tax amnesty was given. She said that the film policy has also given attention to the rehabilitation of cinemas in the country which were demolished in the 1990s due to deterioration of the industry.

She said that the establishment of the film institute was part of the vision of the development of this sector. The minister said that due to our initiatives, recent films have done good business locally and internationally. She said that as far as electronic media is concerned, PTV and Radio Pakistan have the largest infrastructure, adding that steps are being taken to utilize this infrastructure for the betterment of the entertainment industry.

The federal minister said that PTV Academy should create awareness among children about the constitution, democracy and politics.

Earlier, Marriyum Aurangzeb inaugurated the National Film Production Institute. Secretary Information and Managing Director PTV Sohail Ali Khan and senior officers of MOIB and PTV participated in the event.
