ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Wednesday decided to approach Interpol to bring back Farhat Shahzai alias Farah Gogi, a close friend of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi, to Pakistan in a money laundering case.
According to reports, the FIA has sent a letter to the Home Ministry seeking permission to issue a red warrant for Farah Gogi. The Minister has not yet taken any decision on this.
The development comes after FIA’s Anti-Money Laundering Cell registered a case against him for Rs 849 million. The action was taken after the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) referred an inquiry to the investigative agency.
According to the FIR, Farah was involved in criminal activities by committing corruption and receiving kickbacks as unusual credit transactions were reported in her bank accounts. He is also accused of accepting bribes against transfers of police officers and other government officials.
The FIR states that Farah also used his influence in the award of various government projects.
