ISLAMABAD: Chaudhry Moonis Elahi bought several properties in Spain on the day his father was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab on July 27 last year, according to information obtained by the National Accountability Bureau from the Spanish authorities.
Parking floors, a warehouse, an apartment, a Range Rover and a company are among the newly created assets, in addition to bank accounts and companies already incorporated. Moonis responded to JEE News by acknowledging his ownership and saying he would declare it on his next year’s tax return. He said it was nothing more than a coincidence that the property was purchased on the day his father was sworn in.
NAB had sought details of Moonis’ bank accounts and properties through a Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) request from the Spanish authorities.

Responding to the MLA, Spanish authorities said they could share information about assets held in the name of Moonis who has obtained residency status in Spain as an investor.
According to the details provided, Moonis bought three parking floors, a warehouse and an apartment on the day of his father’s swearing-in. Further details shared also suggest another company associated with Moonis. It contributed 100,100 euros to Bismillar Procon SA in 2004 for a share capital increase. The company was dissolved in 2015.
Saqib Tahir Chaudhry and Shafaat Hussain Chaudhry were their administrators. Saqib is the Chaudhry family’s trusted man in Spain and looks after their business interests. Shafaat Chaudhry is the younger brother of Shujaat.
