MUNICH: Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said on Saturday that if the interim Afghan government does not show the “will and ability” to counter militant groups operating from its soil, terrorism will continue to move beyond Pakistan. It won’t take long. He added that the international community wants the Afghan Transitional Government to fulfill its responsibilities in areas such as women’s education, inclusive governance and dealing with potential threats from terrorist groups such as ISIS, TTP and Al-Qaeda. Follow through on promises.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference in Germany, the PPP Chairman said that the most important issue in the region regarding Afghanistan is the country’s “security and terrorism threat”. The concern is that if we and the interim government do not take these groups seriously and show the will and capacity to act against terrorist groups, they will be the first to carry out terrorist acts in the region. – We are already observing. Terrorist activity has increased in Pakistan since the fall of Kabul, but it will not take long for it to reach elsewhere.
He said that there is a whole “alphabet soup” of terrorist organizations that are based out of Afghanistan while the international community or the Afghan government has not given enough seriousness to the issue.
Bilawal urged the international community to act “pro-actively” rather than reactively following the nightmare scenario. “What is important is to convince the transitional government in Afghanistan, with the consensus of the international community, to take action against terrorism within its own borders and demonstrate its willingness to do so,” he added. It added, urging the international community to help build the capacity of the Afghan transitional authorities. To deal with the threats of terrorism.
On Friday, militants stormed the Karachi Police office in the city’s central Sharia Faisal. The security forces cleared the five-storied building after about four hours of operation. The TTP – which has safe havens in Afghanistan – later claimed responsibility for the attack. The outlawed TTP was also involved in the Peshawar mosque suicide attack that killed more than 80 people, mostly policemen – one of the deadliest attacks in recent years. Interim government FM Bilawal said that there was no standing army, no anti-terrorist force and no border force.
Bilawal said that the international community should convince the Afghan interim government to deal with the threat of terrorism and show its will. He warned that terrorism is a threat not only to Afghanistan’s immediate neighbors but also to the West.
He said that Pakistan has helped Afghanistan in the past and will continue to do so as it has hosted the largest number of Afghan refugees on its soil, adding that the international community has washed its hands of Afghanistan. Can’t turn.
He stressed that the world should continue its humanitarian aid, unfreeze Afghanistan’s assets, open banking channels and engage with the Taliban, society and women.
The foreign minister reiterated that a peaceful Afghanistan is indispensable for the stability of the region and the international community should play its role in this regard.
He further said that the Afghan Interim Government had assured the end of terrorism from its soil.
Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan once again called for an early resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.
Speaking to his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Koliba on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, FM Bilawal informed his concerns about the conflict.
The two sides discussed various issues in depth and vowed to further enhance bilateral cooperation for the benefit of their people.
Meanwhile, in a tweet, the foreign minister said that he also had extensive discussions with China’s senior diplomat Wang Yi on global, regional and bilateral issues.
